I want to get away, I wanna fly away, yeaaaaah yeaaaah yeaaaaah, and that's exactly what I did. Working literally seven days a week at two jobs was absolutely destroying me all through January and Feb this year,my iPhone alarm and travel coffee cup were pretty much the only thing keeping me alive.
A trip away for a few days was exactly what I needed, my boyfriend Jarryd and I hadn't done anything for our relationship in so long we were both constantly working and stressing about looking for a place to move into, we were desperate for some peace.
We decided to go glamping in Daylesford which is only a few hours from us down on the Peninsula. Daylesford is known for being the lesbian capital of Victoria which wasn't initially why I wanted to book our trip there but it was fun imagining what mine and Jarryds relationship would be like if he was my big beautiful lesbian lover. Daylesford is also known for being the spa capital of Victoria and now that I work for Peninsula Hotsprings I am deffs a public bathing spa snob, it's not even natural mineral geothermal water from 637 meters into the earths core? ew! But anyway I was more than ready to kick back and soak up all that Daylesford had to offer with my man by my side. Glamping was so much fun, we had the best set up! Word of advice though, if you're ever wanting to go glamping deffs bring a boardgame or some cards or SOMETHING we didn't even think of this and just ended up drinking moscato every night and playing truth or dare which is pretty underwhelming when you already know everything about eachother (laugh/cry emoji)
But we were in a great spot where we could walk down to the beautiful Lake Daylesford and we were right near the main street for some much needed shooooppppppinnggggggg!! Something I love about Jarryd is that we both enjoy wandering aimlessly around shops, we spent nearly three hours at the Mill Markets just looking at utter crap but we loved it, I think once you find a man who will carry all of your random finds from an antique market around for a long period of time, he is the one. Daylesford was just so pretty and picturesque, it really looked like somewhere Snow White, Belle or a bunch of lesbians would live. There were so many pretty things to see and do like Daylesford Cider Company, may or may not have planned my entire wedding there in my mind. I also loved the Convent Gallery, Wombat Hill Botanical Gardens and just the town itself, I didn't realise until I was there just how much I needed to be out in the fresh air away from work and admiring rich peoples mansions I'll never be able to live in.
On our way home we stopped at one of my favourite places in Victoria, Hanging Rock, which is kinda creepy but I just love it there, I've been obsessed with Picnic at Hanging Rock since I was a teen and I just get so thrilled every time I am there, I get so caught up in the mystery and the moment even though the story of Picnic at Hanging Rock was confirmed as just a story I like to still believe it happened coz I'm dramatic like that and generally love being in places where white school girls got murdered back in the day. The day we went I was so bloody hot and sweaty after climbing all the way to the top I was like mmkay spirits take me now I'm basically dead after that walk. Another creepy place we went was The Lost Children memorial, in like the 1800's three little boys went for a walk in Daylesford and never returned, their bodies were found out in the bush months later and there's a small memorial for them just outside of the town, I found it super interesting but like Daylesford why u do dis to me??? Such spooky vibes!
I did have a really amazing time away to relax and reconnect but the only thing I could say is like while I enjoy a little old fashioned town with small stores and antiques galore I do appreciate a town with a Kmart and a pub that actually serves a chicken parma, no I do naht want your tofu and broccoli cheers mate.
